The Betty Ann Krahnke Center is a Montgomery County shelter for women and children that have become victims of domestic violence. Teams interact with women, children or families as required by the staff. Teams also make several READ visits each month.

The Center comprises two entities: an emergency shelter that helps homeless families recover and return to the community,
and a residence for behaviorally and emotionally challenged youth, ages 12-20. Our teams interact with the children in
the emergency family shelter.

Evening visits are to a large number of units, including pediatric oncology,
adult oncology, alzheimers, neurological disorders, pediatric schizophrenia,
and general surgery.
Daytime visits are to the Children's Clinic (outpatient follow-up treatment
center) and the pediatric oncology, adult oncology, pediatric mental health, and neurology units.

The Adventist Center for Children at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital
encompasses a 25 bed pediatric facility, a 5 bed pediatric intensive care unit,
and an 11 bed antepartum ward. The child units serve children with a variety of medical diagnosis.
The antepartum ward serves pregnant women who must remain on bed rest for
several weeks before delivery.
