Therapy -- Whippet Willow, owned by Linda Solano, of
Baltimore. Nominated by Holly Parker, coordinator of the
animal-assisted therapy program at the National
Institutes of Health, in Bethesda, Md.
Willow is a shy, reserved Whippet who, according to her
nominator, has a "unique sense of herself and an uncanny
ability to connect with people when they are most
vulnerable." Willow's work in a pediatric unit has a
profoundly positive effect on children suffering the
ravages of cancer, severe body burns and other tragic
circumstances.
